Mercury Energy
(Electricity retailing trading name of Mighty River Power)
Auckland, New Zealand
Mercury Energy supports electricity 300,000 customers, and 250 employees. It was initially a traditional electricity utility, which separated into Energy Auckland (as the retail provider) and Vector (as the distributor) as required by New Zealand’s energy deregulation. Mercury is still the brand name for Mighty River Power, which was formed by the re-aggregation of Waikato Generation and Energy Auckland.
When Mercury Energy undertook its ERP/CIS project, SAP’s Core Modules were chosen as the foundation solution and IS-U/CCS was chosen as the hub of the retail solution, with TUI Consulting as the prime integrator. TUI undertook a complete review of electricity retailing operational processes and IT systems ensure the capabilities were available for success in the fully deregulated electricity industry. All major processes were redesigned in conjunction with the development of an IT strategy that could deliver a fully integrated suite of systems for both the network and retail businesses.
TUI Consulting was also engaged to custom-build applications to manage interval data and facilitate energy product costing, load profiling and billing of contestable customers. These custom developed systems have subsequently become the Beta site for new releases of TUI Consulting’s Competitive Market Modules (CMM). Also as part of the project, TUI integrated the solution with Mercury’s Siebel Sales Enterprise CRM system, its Integra T wholesale trading and settlement system, and its KW2000 risk analysis and reporting system.
Mighty River Power (MRP) has continued to engage TUI Consulting to provide ongoing support and assistance with further developments and enhancements for RTP and IS-U/CCS through today.
