If you join Axon as a consultant, you will join one of our three consulting practices. They are Business Consulting, Solution Implementation and Applications Management.
Our clients tend to be large, well known organisations which are undergoing major change. They may be reducing cost, integrating a new acquisition, improving service levels or integrating their supply chain. Whatever the business driver, we deliver and support large, technology enabled transformation programmes.
Most of our assignments - all of our large programmes - are delivered by an Axon team with members from all three practices. One of the reasons our clients choose to use Axon is that it we combine these three capabilities into a single team, methodology and change programme. This can create challenges, but is definitely the best way to deliver a successful outcome and ensure that all of the business, process, people and technical aspects of the programme are properly integrated. So as an Axon consultant, whatever your skill-set, you will be working with Axon team members from all three of our consulting practices.
Most Axon assignments involve 5 to 50 consultants for between 3 months and 3 years. Some are based in one place, others require travel to 10, 20 or more locations all over the world. Around 70% of Axon consultancy is delivered at the client’s site, rather than at an Axon office so Axon consultants can spend a great deal of time traveling. This can either be a challenge or a lot of fun depending on your circumstances and location - you could find yourself anywhere from the Caribbean to the East End of London. If for some reason travel presents an issue for you, you should certainly raise it before joining us. The parts of our company which require the least travel (although there’s always some) are our Applications Management practice and our business support functions.
Our organisation structure is simple, with a limited hierarchy in order to keep us flexible and allow us to respond quickly to changes in the market. Axon people tend to be proactive, motivated, open and ambitious. We are certainly a meritocracy and talented people are recognised and their skills utilised where ever they are in the organisation. Nobody ‘serves time’ at Axon - if you are the right person for the job, it’s yours.
We employ a wide range of consultants. Technical architects, business and management consultants, programmers, subject matter experts, change management specialists, project managers and functional consultants. We look for people with deep skills in these (and many other) areas. In addition to this depth, we also look for and develop a breadth of more general consulting skills in all of our people.
Our business is supplying the highest quality services and products in the market and we do this by employing the best consultants. Naturally we make sure that the rewards we offer are higher than those of our competitors and we encourage people to align their goals and rewards with those of wider company through a performance related salary package.
Working at Axon is about working with a team of talented, committed people on important challenging projects with well known, interesting clients. And being known by partners, competitors and clients as the best in the business. |
