BRITAIN-based technology consultancy firm Axon has inked a deal with SAP Malaysia to establish the SAP NetWeaver Education Partner programme in the country.
Under the deal, SAP Malaysia hopes to train 225 people within the first year of the programme. The programme began last month at Axon's office in Technology Park Malaysia.
Axon group chief executive officer, Stephen Cardell, said the alliance between the two companies is a milestone for Axon.
"This partnership will enable us to produce top-notch consultants who can go about increasing SAP's penetration in the local and foreign market place," he told reporters recently.
Cardell said Malaysia will be Axon's global resource hub and a significant part of Axon's global workplace, accounting for about 20% of its global headcount.
"We believe human capital is an asset and should be used to achieve rapid growth and international competitiveness," he said.
A recent Gartner survey shows the most sought-after IT skills in the market are people with knowledge in SAP systems.
The technology research firm also claimed that the demand for IT services will continue to grow rapidly over the next five years at an 80% compound annual growth rate.
